Silver Springs, NV – October 4, 2024 – The Silver Springs Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its ‘Wild Wild West’ Founders Day Parade, happening on October 12th at 10:00 AM. This year’s parade will be led by the Nevada Chapter of the National Pony Express Association, who will carry an authentic mochila along Ft. Churchill Street, honoring the historic Pony Express route.

At the start of the parade, the riders will hand-deliver the mochila to our esteemed Grand Marshal, Lyon County Sheriff Brad Pope, who will then be escorted down the parade route by Rider’s proudly carrying the Nevada and American flags. This symbolic exchange and escort paytribute to Silver Springs’ pioneering roots.

The Opening Ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM in front of the Silver Springs Senior Center at 2945 Ft. Churchill St. The parade will be emceed by JJ Christy, host of KBUL Radio 98.1, who will be stationed near the Sheriff's Substation at 1315 Lahontan St.

The parade promises a lively procession of horse riders, wagons, community groups, and classic cars, all paying homage to the area’s Wild West spirit. The parade route leads to Penny Park at 1355 Donner Trail, where the Founders Day festivities will continue from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
