The Silver Springs Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to invite you to a very special community event celebrating America 250 and the enduring legacy of the Pony Express.
On Friday, June 5, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Pony Express Territory, the Silver Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, and Nevada State Parks will host a free public celebration at Fort Churchill State Historic Park.
Fort Churchill is one of the most significant historic sites in our region. Built in 1861, the fort played a vital role in protecting settlers, stagecoach passengers, and Pony Express riders traveling through Nevada Territory. It stands as a powerful reminder of the courage, resilience, and pioneering spirit that helped shape the American West.
The event will feature:
Pony Express rider mochila exchange demonstration
Presentation by Pony Express re-rider and author Ron Bell
Guided tour of the Fort Churchill ruins
Photo booth with Pony Express riders
Free America 250 T-shirts and bandanas (while supplies last)
Free BBQ Hotdogs/Chips and refreshments
Kids’ Horse Pogo Stick Contest
This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our community to visitors while celebrating the important role Silver Springs and Stagecoach played at the crossroads of the trail.
We encourage our Chamber members and local business leaders to help spread the word and join us for this memorable event.
If you would like to be involved, please contact the Chamber at silverspringschamber@gmail.com or call 775-770-0311 to discuss how you’d like to participate.
We hope you’ll join us as we honor our history, celebrate our community, and welcome visitors to one of Nevada’s most important historic landmarks.
